Back To School Letter 2014-15
Welcome back! School resumes Tuesday, September 2nd. I hope that everyone has had a wonderful and relaxing vacation time. It is so important that we "re-charge our batteries" by resting and relaxing, and I trust that our students embraced this idea whole heartedly. As fun as it is to stay up and sleep in late, I believe that getting back into a routine and a schedule is just as beneficial. I know that both students and staff will be glad to get back to the important business of teaching and learning as we begin the exciting 2014-15 school year.
Some important things to note: we will have an Open House on the 18th of September. Please plan on attending and meet your child's teacher (or teachers). We are giving kindergarteners a jump-start to feel more comfortable in their new school surroundings. They will attend half days August 11th-14th, and again August 18th-21st. Contact Gracie Cortez in the office for more detailed information. This year we are asking that you drop off school supplies the first day of school. I appreciate in advance your patience during the first few days of school. Managing over 300 students is a challenge, and we all appreciate your flexibility as we meet that challenge.
Our building is sparkling thanks to our dedicated custodial staff. Our teachers have not only relaxed, but have spent a fair amount of their summer break taking classes and trainings to make them the outstanding educators they are. Some of our students have participated in summer programs offered, and I appreciate their extra dedication to their educations.
We welcome some new staff members: Madison Dissmore in 2nd grade, Jennifer Morasch as our K-4 LAP teacher, Laura Berg in 1st grade, Greg May in 3rd grade, Charlene Maib joins us as our Resource Room teacher, and Julia Leavitt will fill an available para-educator position. I'm very excited to have these fine folks with us at Blue Ridge. Please join me in making them feel most welcome.
We are working hard to live up to our new motto: Welcoming, Safe, Innovative, With Community Pride. We value your input and ideas, please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, and thoughts you have on how we can continue to be the very best we can be.
