We are nearly at the time for Spring Break. We will enjoy a bit of time to rest and re-charge. Spring Break is the week of April 6th-10th. Then, it is back to work to finish this year strong! We have much to do, and as always, your involvement is needed.
Thanks to those families who attended conferences, our Celebration of Learning, and our recent Family Fun Night with Carnegie Picture Lab. I believe that it is vital that your students see you in the building. This cements their belief that their education is important. We will continue to work hard to provide opportunities for you to join us at events both during the day and after school. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to be involved and present in your child's education. This is a team effort, and you are an important member of the team!
As we work our way to the end of the school year, we once again will be involved in testing and assessing your student's academic growth. Students have been working diligently to obtain knowledge this year. In addition, they have been learning how to take new assessments. Much of the future in measuring student growth will take place on computers. Your students (3rd-5th) will be using the lab computers and our brand new Chrome Books lab to take the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment). Let me tell you, they have been so excited to be able to use technology to show what they know! You can help your student make the most of our Spring Testing Window by asking questions about their studies, setting an early bedtime, and encouraging plenty of exercise and fresh air. Even as we turn more to technology, it is paramount that children have time to explore and play outside, to exercise their bodies, and to learn to solve real world problems. Limiting video game and TV time is also a great help to a "testing frame of mind". We extend our thanks in advance for the help you can give us.
Please always feel free to contact me with your questions, concerns, ideas. I look forward to seeing you soon!
