School has been in session for nearly two months. What a whirlwind! Can you believe it is Thanksgiving in just a few short weeks?
We have adopted a new Mission Statement here at Blue Ridge. It is: We are safe, welcoming, innovative, and supporting - with community pride. To see how we are trying to align what we do every day with our new Mission Statement, please read on:
I hope you have been pleased with some changes that we have made this year. It is always my goal to simplify and include. We've made great strides with both of those goals. For instance, we've simplified our Student of the Month awards, and I think that students and parents will agree that the shorter assemblies and Student of the Month T-shirts are a great new way to celebrate those students who go above and beyond on a daily basis at school. Also, I've been so grateful to those parents who have taken the time to attend our new Parent Advisory meetings. We've had wonderful attendance from parents and families who want to be more involved. You will see parents helping as crossing guards, and helping out with school functions - and I hope this is just the beginning. My wish is that all parents can be more of a presence in our school community. We're off to a great start!
We have had some great feedback from the community about our Blue Ridge Students. As our kids visit local businesses, other schools, and the community at large, I want you to know that our kids are making quite the impression. I've heard from several community members who have expressed that students from Blue Ridge are exceptional citizens. You should be very proud to have them represent you!
There are many upcoming events, and I hope you will visit our website regularly, as well as check your child's backpacks for notices that come home. To mention a couple of things: we are having another Family Night with a focus on Writing on November 21st. I hope you can all attend. We have a phenomenal new music teacher in Stefanie Flerchinger. There is a Veterans Day Concert on November 7th. From what I've heard, it promises to be fabulous. (I also cannot wait to see what Mrs. Flerchinger has up her sleeve by way of Holiday concerts this year.) On the 18th we will be hosting another Parent Advisory meeting, please attend if you can. You are always welcome here at Blue Ridge!
Thank you for your continued support. If you have questions or things you want to talk about, please don't hesitate to contact me.
