Fall 2017 Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Blue Ridge Elementary School. Our teachers and staff would also like to join me in greeting you as you become or continue to be a Blue Ridge ‘Eagle’! Blue Ridge is committed to supporting our district vision of “Developing Washington's Most Sought-After Graduates.” Our staff looks forward to working with you and your student as we lay the foundation in elementary school for the years to come.
In partnership with all Walla Walla Public Schools and the District Strategic Plan (wwps.org), we will ensure all students receive high quality instruction in an aligned and a coherent system while addressing their social and emotional needs in a safe and engaging environment.
The vision at Blue Ridge Elementary is to embrace the best educational practices, while providing a safe and nurturing environment for all to thrive in. We are dedicated to preparing students for the challenges presented by our ever-changing world. We strongly believe that all student are entitled to a stimulating and secure learning environment.
This school year, in addition to supporting the District Strategic Plan, as a building and individuals, we will focus on the following three areas:
- Continuing to implement school wide social and emotional behavior supports
- Implement strategies to improve academic success for all students.
- Provide professional development opportunities for all staff so they continue to grow and excel as educators.
We are delighted that you are now part of the Blue Ridge ‘Eagle’ family. Working together as a team, we will ensure that every student has the opportunity to realize their full potential as confident, successful students.
The handbook included in the packet that’s coming home with your student on their first day of school contains a wide-range of information that you will find helpful throughout the school year. Please take the time to review carefully, the information in this handbook to ensure that your student gets off to a great start this August. Everything that you need to know regarding student conduct, dress code, expectations for classroom and playground behavior are more detailed here. Most importantly, our daily schedule is listed on page 4. It is of the utmost importance that all students consistently arrive on time to school. Arriving on time to school will make sure you are doing your part to help keep our learning environment as productive as possible. Should you have any questions regarding the materials in this handbook, I would encourage you to contact your child’s teacher or our office for further information and/or clarification.
I am looking forward to meeting you, working with you and your children and getting to know this wonderful school community.
Best wishes for the 2017-2018 school year!
Principal, Blue Ridge Elementary
