Blue Ridge News, Events & Reminders

SOARing Eagles and Sour Grape

Over 90 Blue Ridge SOARing Eagles visited Jefferson Park on their final SOARing Eagle field trip of the school year. While there the mobile yogurt truck from the yogurt shop Sour Grape showed up to treat these well-behaved students to some frozen yogurt. Way to go SOARing Eagles and a huge thanks to Sour Grape!

Mustache and Crazy Hair Day

Staff and students donned mustaches and teased their hair into crazy coiffures for Mustache and Crazy Hair Spirit Day Thursday, May 29th. Thanks to the leadership team for planning this event!

5th Grade Graduates

44 5th Graders Graduated from elementary school Thursday, June 12th. We wish them the very best in Middle School and beyond!

Farewell to the Armstrongs

Long-time volunteers Judy and Jim Armstrong bid farewell today. For nearly ten years they have visited BR once a week to read to and with students in 2nd grade. For the past several years they've vounteered in Mrs. Nichols' 2nd grade classroom. The Armstrongs also adopt their class and bring them holiday presents each December. In addition Jim and Judy adopt several families in need each year at Blue Ridge and provide them with Christmas gifts. Best of all, their kind hearts and their warm smiles have graced our hallways and made 2nd graders feel special.

Whitman Newsletter Features Blue Ridge

Whitman College released their Outreach newsletter and Blue Ridge is featured in an article about the Whitman College Science Outreach Program. We greatly value our partnership with Whitman College and appreciate the exposure for our school. Together Blue Ridge and Whitman make a great team!

Mrs. Nichols Retires

We bid a very fond farewell to Mrs. Nichols, who retired this year after thirty three years of teaching (the past 7 at Blue Ridge). Mrs. Nichols will truly be missed.

Concert A Fabulous Way to End the Year

Featuring songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's and now, Blue Ridge Kids rocked the house. Thanks to Mrs. Flerchinger for the wonderful concert.
