Senator Murray's BR Visit

U.S. Senator Patty Murray stopped in Walla Walla August 24 to visit educators and students at Blue Ridge Elementary School. Murray visited three classrooms, discussed educational issues with Principal Kim Doepker and Superintendent Wade Smith and read to second grade students. Fifth grade students Bianca Vieyra and Dedrick Thorpe from Stacey Klingenberg's class served as student ambassadors during the visit. Senator Murray interacted with students in Berta Herrera-Trejo, Tina Brennan and Heidi Cohan's classrooms during the 45 minute visit.

PTA Meeting

We invite parents to join us on Monday, September 19th from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. for our first PTA meeting of the school year. Blue Ridge is once again hosting a PTA, and this is your chance to be a part of this great organization. We welcome all parents and guarians of Blue Ridge students to lend your time, talents, and voice to make a difference for our students.

After School Program Changes

The YMCA of Walla Walla will no longer be providing after school care for children at Blue Ridge Elementary. Parents have the option to sign their children up for the Explorer After School Program at the YMCA. The YMCA will provide transportation from Blue Ridge Elementary to the YMCA. However, it will be the parent’s responsibility to pick their child up from the YMCA at the conclusion of the program. Explorer registration is based on a first come, first served basis and has a maximum of 50 enrolled participants.

Girls on the Run

 Blue Ridge is proud to offer an exciting new program for young ladies in 3rd-5th grades. Girls on the Run is a club that meets twice a week after school to help girls build confidence, self esteem, and healthy habits - all while training to run a 5k run/walk. Online registration is from 8/22/16-9/12/16 and can be accessed here: www.gotrsewa.org. The season runs from 9/12/16-11/17/16. Cost is $150.00 for the session/ Reduced Lunch students $70.00/ Free Lunch students $45.00. Scholarships may be available based on need. Area Dentists to Help BR Health Center

Walla Walla Dental Group Dr. Dan Laizure (Walla Walla Dental Care), Dr. Patty Martin (Stone Creek Dental Care), and Dr. Jonathan Gantz (Enhanced Dental Care) are donating $10.00 in a patient's name to Blue Ridge and its health services for students when patients join them for an exam and cleaning.  Thank you to these dentists for their kindness and generosity!
