Student Travel Telephone Survey

Blue Ridge, Edison, Pioneer and Prospect Point have been selected by the state Department of Health to participate in the 2016 Student Travel Survey. Department of Health staff will be randomly calling parents in May to complete the survey. Parents will be asked how their children get to and from school. Information will be sent home with students and be available on school websites explaining the survey and how the information will be used. Parents are encouraged to participate.

The 2016 student travel survey  is collaborative work by WA State Dept. of Health, Dept. of Transportation and OSPI. The survey provides necessary data needed to continue multiple programs, such as the Safe Routes to School and bike safety with bicycles provided to schools.

Pet Etiquette

All pets must be on leash on all WWPS properties. Please also clean up after your pet.

Spring Testing and Assessments

The Spring Testing and Assessment window is open now. We ask that your student be present at school each day during testing. Please do not make doctor or dentist or other appointments during testing. In addition to best help your student be successful during these tests and assessments, we ask that you try to do the following:

-Set an earlier bedtime.

-Limit TV, Video Game, and Screen time.

Make sure your child has a balanced brekfast - either at home or at school.

Read to and with your child and ask questions about what you're reading.

Make sure your child gets plenty of exercise and fresh air.

Practice basic math facts.

Volunteers Honored

Longtime Blue Ridge Volunteers, Norma Facio and Elsa Araiza along with Jamie Griffith and the congregation from Trinity Baptist Church were honored with the Art Regier Volunteer Award. Norma and Elsa work tirelessly each week to help teachers, they decorate for events, and help in the office. Jamie Griffith and the folks at Trinity Baptist Church have donated school supplies and backpacks, turkeys for the Turkey Trot, clothes and shoes for those in need, and have provided food and snacks for teachers and staff during conferences. We are proudand very grateful to have these wonderful people helping at Blue Ridge.

The Art Regier Outstanding Volunteer Award was instituted in 1991 as a memorial to “Grandpa Art” Regier. Regier, a retiree who devoted years of service to elementary schools in Walla Walla, epitomized the spirit of volunteerism in education. His tireless dedication and concern for the students he served are the inspiration for this award.

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

This month students and staff tried cucumbers for the USDA's Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The program provides the opportunity to try a new fruit or vegetable several times per week. Please ask your child which new foods they've tried recently.
