Carnegie Picture Show

Carnegie Picture lab is pleased to announce the  Carnegie Picture Show: An exhibit of student artwork from Carnegie Picture Lab classroom lessons. Presenting student work inspired the artists Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent Van Gogh and Diego Rivera, the exhibit will be open April 14-25 at the Walla Walla Public Library at 238 E. Alder in downtown Walla Walla.

An opening celebration takes place  April 18 at noon  and features a performance by Ballet Folkórico. Festivities also feature a range of art activities for all ages from 10 am to 2 pm. The art activities celebrate the artists featured this year with watercolor painting, charcoal and oil pastel drawing.








Face-Off Visits Talent

Wa-Hi Freshmen from the 21st Century Face-Off Program visited Blue Ridge Talent Program students recently to work on their cosmetology and special effects make-up skills. Face-Off students were able to paint the faces of 50 Blue Ridge Talent students. Face-Off is sponsored by WWCC, Crew Space, The Beehive, and other community partners. Thanks, Face-Off Team for a fun event!

4th Graders Study Electricity

4th graders in Mrs. Sams' Science class culminated their study of circuits recently by constructing their own houses out of boxes and then wiring them in a Series or Parallel circuit. Some also wired their circuits to a switch. 4th graders always look forward to this unit of study. Way to go, 4th grade!

Cadre Leadership

BR Cadre Leadership Team continues to build strong leadership skills in younger students by hosting a variety of events. Pictured here: Cadre Leadership Team students host a team building exercise involving different games.

Spring Testing Window Opening Soon

Students in 3-5th grades will soon be taking the SBAC (Smarter Balanced Assessment). Here are ways you can help your student during this important time:

1. Set an early bed time

2. Make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast (either at home or at school)

3. Limit video game and computer time

4. Make sure your child gets fresh air and exercise

5. Read to and with your child and ask questions about what you've read
