DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP STUDENTS
We have a parent pick-up area located in the parking/pickup area provided SOUTH of our school. Parents or others wishing to pick up their child are asked to use this area. Please do not pick up or drop off your child at the front of the school as it interferes with busing and maintenance deliveries. The entrance can be found by following Wainwright Drive, toward the VA hospital, rather than entering our campus. After entering the area, you will find additional parking to the left, if you have business in the building, or if you are waiting for your child as part of our regular dismissal process, you may simply drive up to the furthest available point along the curb area and wait for your child. Children will be supervised in the waiting area. There is usually a lineup of cars, but the line flows quickly if everyone follows these procedures.
Children arriving for breakfast may enter the building upon arrival. Team Time begins at 7:50 a.m. Because of our breakfast schedule and school start time, we do not provide outside supervision before school. Students, who arrive past 8:05 a.m., will be considered tardy.
Children will be dismissed at the end of the school day by the classroom teacher and escorted by staff to the bus, parent pick-up, or walking areas. Please wait for your student to be brought to you.
If you need to meet with the classroom teacher, please make an appointment.
State law requires that students be in attendance during designated school days. It is extremely important for children to develop good attendance habits, however, we recognize that situations arise which occasionally interfere with school attendance. A pre-trip request for any absence must be submitted to the school office one week prior to any trip. If an emergency arises, requests will be reviewed by the principal. The principal may or may not approve the absence.
ARRIVING/LEAVING MID-DAY DURING SCHOOL
Parents are asked to cooperate by not disrupting the school day schedule. Please schedule appointments outside the school day or make prior arrangements. If late arrival or early dismissal is necessary, parents must come to the front office and sign their child/children in to or out of school. If in an emergency, someone other than the parent/guardian needs to pick up the child, the Authorization to Pick up Children form must be completed, and the person authorized by the parent/guardian must follow the same procedures to sign the child/children in to or out of school. Anyone, including the parent/guardian, on the authorization to pick up children form, may be required to show identification when picking up the child/children.
